Mica Swyers, Jay Chan - Finding Spammers & Scammers through Rate Tracking with Python & Redis

This talk provides an introduction to rate tracking as well as an explanation of a particularly cool way to implement it. You will learn what rate tracking is, why you would want to do it, and then how you can use build a Redis-backed “velocity engine” in Python to do just that.

Code and libraries

jooby - Redis cache and key/value data store for Jooby. Exposes a Jedis service.

speedbump - A Redis-backed rate limiter in Go

Works with IPv4, IPv6, or any other unique identifier.

gRedis - an asynchronous client library of Redis written with Tornado coroutine

redular - Node.js event scheduling system powered by Redis keyspace notifications

There are a few caveats with this: the data is stored in Redis as a JSON string so you cannot send functions to handlers. Data is passed through a JSON.stringify() before being saved to Redis, bear this in mind.

RSMQ - Redis Simple Message Queue

A lightweight message queue for Node.js that requires no dedicated queue server. Just a Redis server.

Dockerfile to run a Official Redis Cluster (redis 3.0+)

The cluster is 6 redis instances running with 3 master & 3 slaves, one slave for each master. They run on ports 7000 to 7005.

Writing a Redis client in pure Bash

Redi.sh is a primitive Redis client, written entirely in Bash. It allows you to read/write keys and sets from redis as if they were regular Bash variables. See this blog post about how it was written.

puppet-redis - Redis and Sentinel config management

This module provides configuration management for Redis and Sentinel. This module aims to properly manage Redis setups that use Sentinel for the HA management.
